Candidate Bios
Gary Barngrover (Class of 1966): Following graduation from the US Air Force Academy with a BS in Engineering, I received an Engineering MS prior to a career in the Air Force as a worldwide transport pilot. I joined TWA in 1978 and retired from American Airlines when it became mandatory due to Federal age restrictions. I have served on the Board for one two full terms plus the completion of another and am seeking re-election for another full term. I have enjoyed working with the Scholarship committee and I hope to continue this in the future.
Calleen (Lapsley) Blatter (Class of 1981): My career has been in the Third-Party Warranty business for 40 years. I graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in 2002. I have been a member of the AWHS Foundation since its inception, and have served as a member of the Board of Directors for many years. I felt a need to contribute more to the Foundation and its mission. My participation on the Scholarship committee has been most satisfying in helping Arvada West graduates further their education.
Kendra Cheese(Class of 1966):I began teaching at Jeffco in 1970. Since retiring, I have volunteered at the Denver Zoo and became a member of the Arvada West Foundation shortly after its founding. As a former teacher and educator in two Jefferson County high schools, I am fortunate to continue my mission as a teacher and board member to promote the belief that education is the answer to the world’s challenges. I want to continue serving on the Board to help students further their education after graduation from AWHS.
Lynn Moore (Class of 1973): My education at AWHS served as a strong foundation for me to pursue a design degree that enabled me to successfully practice professionally for over 45 years. As a principal in the Colorado multidisciplinary design firm Davis Partnership Architects, I led all master planning and site design for over 30 years. Combined with the support of my peer professionals, my professional success brought me the honor of being recognized as a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects. Elected to the AWHSF Board in 2019, I have served as president for the past five years where I have seen firsthand the positive impact the Foundation has had on our Wildcat Community. My unwavering support for the AWHS Foundation’s Vision and Mission fuels my desire to continue to serve on the Board to further strengthen and advance our important philanthropic work supporting the school, the students and the staff.
Dan Morris (Class of 1965): I am currently the executive director of the Colorado Digital Learning Solution, a non-profit managing the Colorado state-supported supplementary online program providing online courses and support to over 130 districts in Colorado. I have worked with numerous organizations and projects nationally and in Colorado that directly support teachers and students in the use and implementation of technology, including eNetLearning, an organization supported by the Colorado BOCES Association supporting small rural districts, the International Society for Education, Intel Education Initiative, and the National School Boards Association. I have been a Colorado educator since 1969, holding numerous teacher, administrator, and leadership positions in Colorado, including serving as the Director of Educational Technology and Innovation for the Colorado Department of Education.
Cindi Robeck (Class of 1966): I discovered my path to impact my community through an unexpected journey. I was initially drawn to science by a high school teacher, which sparked a love for learning that continues to this day. I built a rewarding career in business administration after attending Colorado State University. From managerial roles to establishing my own successful accounting and financial planning practice, my career reflects a commitment to excellence. Beyond professional accomplishments, I am a true advocate for AWHS, a founding member of the Foundation, and a driving force behind its success. I organized my 50th class reunion, allowing me to bring people together, and actively champion the Foundation’s initiatives. Having served as Treasurer, I am now focused on solidifying the Foundation’s relationship with the high school administration, ensuring it becomes a truly viable and ‘go-to’ organization that positively shapes the school’s future and empowers its students.
